Meet the Chief of Police, Norman Locke
Chief Norman Locke has proudly served the North Versailles Township Police Department since July 2001. Over the course of his distinguished career, he has held numerous roles, including Uniform Patrol Officer, School Resource Officer for the East Allegheny School District, Detective, K-9 Handler, FBI Task Force Officer, and Assistant Chief of Police.
From 2018 until his promotion to Chief in 2023, Chief Locke served full-time with the FBI Pittsburgh Division as a Task Force Officer assigned to the Transnational Organized Crime Task Force. Among his many contributions during this assignment, Chief Locke played a key role in investigating the 2019 fentanyl overdose crisis on Pittsburgh’s South Side, as well as subsequent investigations that followed.
His work was instrumental in disrupting the illegal drug trade, and for his dedication, Chief Locke was formally recognized by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Department of Justice, and FBI Director Christopher Wray. These honors reflect his ongoing commitment to public safety and his leadership in addressing the fentanyl epidemic affecting both our region and the nation.
With extensive experience in narcotics and firearms cases, Chief Locke has been certified as an expert witness in both state and federal courts.
He is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and holds numerous advanced certifications through the Penn State University Justice and Safety Institute.
